Big Fat Deal began in 2004, when mo pie asked, “Is there a weblog out there that focuses on the portrayal of weight in pop culture? Both positive and negative? Because I think we need one. I think we need one so much that I will start one, if one does not exist.” And so Big Fat Deal was born: a blog to help navigate those murky waters of body image, size, healthiness and hottyness.
